Abel Vela Jr., 71, entered eternal rest, May 30, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Vela is preceded in death by his father; Abel Vela Sr., and brother; Rodolfo Ponce.

Abel is survived by his mother; Rosa Ponce Vela, son; Abel Duran Jr.; siblings; Jose Angel Vela, Gloria Vega, Refugio Vela, and Roberto Vela, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The Vela family will honor their loved one on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Leonard Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Carrizo Springs where a funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the St. Michaels Cemetery in Big Wells.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jose Angel Vela, Israel Ortiz Jr., Markus Chimalpopoca, Jose Martinez Jr., Marco Morales, and Teddy Morales.
