Obituary

Betty Jo (Reeves) Wilson was born September 9, 1928, to Frances Coy Reeves and Jewel Mae Croft in Crystal City, Texas. Betty Jo attended Crystal City High School, was a twirler, and graduated in May of 1946. She went to Texas A&I University, where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Wilson. The couple married March 4, 1949. Betty Jo became the mother of 4 daughters and 1 son. She devoted her life to her family. In 1971, the Wilsons moved to Carrizo Springs, and Betty Jo remained there until her death.

Betty Jo (Nannie) loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. But she truly loved her rescue dog Ruby, who "never told mom what to do or talked back, unlike her children." She was a homemaker, educator, children's store owner (Gin's), and rancher's wife. She had a passion for camping, fishing, family vacations, shopping at Macy's, and supporting the San Antonio Spurs. Her mountain cabin in Cloudcroft, New Mexico was where she found peace and solitude. Her love for Christmas was visible over the years, as she enjoyed decorating First Baptist Church and her home. She looked forward to attending the Faith Sunday School class every Sunday, where she made life-long Christian friends.

Betty Jo Wilson, 96, entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Carrizo Springs, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Frances Coy Reeves and Jewel Mae Croft, stepfather James Martin "Country" Brown, her husband of 55 years, James A. Wilson, and her brother, Bobby Frank Reeves.

Betty Jo is survived by her daughters, Katherine Jane Rhodes (Carl), Jamie Lea Trant, Joan Elizabeth Tolle (Mark), Becky Sue Wilson, and son James A. Wilson Jr. (Laura). Her grandchildren include Denise Rhodes, Stacey Mills (Patrick), Shane Trant, Colt Trant (Dani), Ashley Massey (Dan), Megan Woodard (Josh), Cody Tolle (Laurel), and Nathan Wilson (Reagan). Betty Jo's great grandchildren include Hannah Mills, James Mills, Autumn Powell, Hudson Massey, Cooper Massey, Elizabeth Woodard, and Atticus Woodard. She is survived by her sister, Judy Kay Brown Park of Roland, Arkansas and her sister-in-law Judy Wilson Shepherd of Georgetown, Texas.

Betty Jo is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, as well as Lucinda Clark and Stephen Shepherd who preceded her in death.
