Herminia Alvarez Gamboa, born in La Campana, Durango, Mexico, May 15, 1929, passed away June 29, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, after a long illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Isabel Vasquez Alvarez and Braulio Alvarez, husband, Carlos Gamboa, brother, Luis Alvarez, sister, Maria De Refugio Luna, and Modesta Sandoval.

She is survived by four daughters and four sons, Vicenta Mena, Juanita Aguilar, Margarita Corpus, Romelia Cortez, Jose Mena, Gabriel Mena, Mike Mena, Casimiro Mena, brother, Herminio Alvarez, along with 10 granddaughters, 14 grandsons, and numerous great grandchildren.

The Mena family will honor their loved one on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Leonard Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church where a funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the St. Michael's Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Catarino Ruiz III, Jose Corpus, Vincent Mena, Michael Mena, Ruben Cortez, and Tommy Carranza.
