James "Jimmy" Dee Davis, 55, of Carrizo Springs (formerly of Sabinal) passed away on June 27,2024 at Dimmit Regional Hospital in Carrizo Springs, Texas. He was born on December 18,1968 in Hondo, Texas to Hilda (Esquivel) and James G. Davis.

James graduated from Sabinal High School in 1988 and enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1988- 1992. James served with the 4th Battalion, 17th Infantry, Fort Ord, California. In 1989 after completing jungle training in Panama, Pvt. 1st Class Davis distinguished himself by meritorious service in Operation Just Cause.

He is preceded in death by his son Zachary James Davis, his parents Hilda and James Davis, grandparents Antonia and James Davis and Felix and Catalina Esquivel.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Davis of Sabinal; two sons, David Davis and Aaron Davis of San Antonio; three sisters, Kelly Gomez and husband Jose of Castroville, Shelly Casey and husband Bobby of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Karen Garber and husband Russ of Hermosa Beach, California; four grandchildren, Gabriela Davis, Chloe Davis, Zanida Davis and Ryan Jaques Jr.; two nephews, Dylan and Collin Casey and niece Peyton Casey; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The Davis family will honor their loved one on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sabinal where a funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at the Sabinal Cemetery.
