Obituary

Mary Ellen Koch Coleman passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. Born on September 11, 1946, she spent her early years in Knippa on the family farm and then met and married Charles Coleman in May of 1969 and later became mother to two children, a daughter Lynette and son Kevin. In later years, she relocated to College Station to be near her grandchildren and passed away on September 30, 2026.

Mary was a nurturing mother creating a home filled with love and many adventures for the kids mostly in the many activities that the kids were involved in to name a few 4-H, FFA, Football, Drill Team and many others that she tirelessly went to for her two kids. Mary was the kind of mother who could kiss the hurt away and then kick you in the behind if it was warranted.

She then became the best Mimi loved and cherished by her two grandsons, Garrett and Garner. She shared her love of books, music, and movies with her grandsons and in later years enjoyed attending their activities.

Mary spent her life cultivating young minds through education mostly in Carrizo Springs teaching 3rd grade and later in life through sharing her love of reading with the public as the Dimmit County Public Librarian. Mary was the kind of person who always wanted to help and be sure kids or adults could learn and achieve their best potential. She truly cared about her community and set down roots deep in the South Texas sand that would last well beyond her lifetime.

Mary enjoyed reading, writing, crossword puzzles, and helping people. Her greatest joys were being a mom and later a Mimi. Mary is survived by her husband Charles "Charlie" Coleman of College Station, TX, formerly of Catarina, TX, brother David Koch of Gonzalez, TX, daughter Lynette Morrison and husband Scott of College Station, TX, son Charles Kevin "Hornet" Coleman and girlfriend Rebecca Reagan of Cotulla, TX. Grandson Garrett Stone and wife Addie of College Station, TX, grandson Garner Stone and girlfriend Kaylee Hall of College Station, TX, grandson Trevor Morrison and girlfriend Sarah Ragmussen of Denver, CO, and granddaughter, Kaeton Kirkland and husband Cody of Crosby, TX.

Mary's legacy will be the lives of all she touched in the many roles she has played in communities she has been a part of early on in Knippa then later in the Brush Country of South Texas in Carrizo Springs.
