In Loving Memory

Rosa E. Olvera & David G. Olvera

Reunited in Heaven

Rosa E. Olvera, 74, of Carrizo Springs, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2026. Rosa was born on May 14, 1952, in Sanderson, Texas, and made Carrizo Springs her home.

She was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, David G. Olvera, 73, who passed away on January 6, 2022. David was born on September 4, 1948, in Carrizo Springs, Texas.

Rosa and David shared 47 years of marriage, and their love for one another was matched only by their devotion to their family, their community, and their faith.

Rosa devoted 30 years to education, and her heart for her students never faded. She built relationships with the children she taught that lasted a lifetime, and many remained close to her long after leaving her classroom. She had a special gift for making people feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Rosa also loved creating homemade cards, which she lovingly sent to family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for animals, and it was not unusual to find her taking in a stray dog in need of a loving home.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Rita P. and Silverstre G. Silvas; brother, Silvestre P. Silvas; and sister, Emma Aguilar. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Clelia and Valente Carrillo.

David devoted 10 years to education before continuing his career with Valero and PG&E Gas. He later returned to education, where he served for five more years.

David was known throughout Carrizo Springs for his deep, unmistakable radio voice, which he proudly used for years while announcing the Mighty Mean Purple Band during Carrizo Springs High School Wildcat football games. His voice became a familiar part of Friday nights and a cherished memory for generations in the community.

David was also deeply committed to public service and to the community he loved, serving on both the Carrizo Springs City Council and the Carrizo Springs school board.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ester and Rodolfo Olvera; sister, Irene Boling, who survived him at the time of his passing and has since passed away.

Rosa and David leave behind a loving family who will forever carry their memory in their hearts. They are survived by their daughter and son-in-law, Clarisa Annette and Ramiro C. Escamilla; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David Adrian and Janeth Olvera; grandchildren, Aiden Ryan Escamilla, Cameron Troy Escamilla, Brooklyn Paige Escamilla, Cristopher Bautista and Belinda Bautista.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Rosa's life and honoring the enduring love and legacy of Rosa and David will be held on October 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Carrizo Springs, Texas.
